Motocross Season Is Back.

And I'm already sore.

I've been doing MX since I was 8 years old, and in the early spring months of every year we always start practicing. It's best to start off slow, get things going, get used to the bike again, and don't wreck. These past few years, especially in the beginning have been really painful. I'm getting older, and lazier, so my muscles don't work as much. I've only made the treck out to some tracks about 3 times so far. And each time, I get really sore. ALL my muscles ache and it's extremely hard to move. And after the first month or so, I start to get back into it, and the pain goes away.

The only problem I have with racing this year, is the aftermath of a crash I had last year. At one of the tracks I race at, I found myself in THIRD place right off the start, against all the boys. I'm not very good at starts so this was a big thing for me. Around the first turn, there was a jump that can intimidate a lot of people. I can do it, easily. But the guy in front of me, I guess couldn't. So I slowed down and just rolled over the jump, for the common sense reason, that if I jumped it, I'd land on him. Well... some idiot in the back of the pack decided that it's ok to jump if you have 20 people in front of you.

There I was in third place. And SMACK. The guy came down on my left shoulder and my head. His front forks (suspension/tire) crushed my hand into the handle bar. My bike went out from underneath me and pulled my left leg with it, twisting my hip and knee. Immediately, the racer guy with the flags at the end of the lap pulled out the red flag, meaning "Restart" or "Race Over," depending how far into the race they were, if someone wrecks. Luckily, I didn't break any bones, or suffer from serious injury. My tendons in my shoulder were stretched to a point where my arm can partially dislocate on command. My hip still pops every now and then. And if I'm on my left leg for a long period of time, I start to limp. And since I've started racing again all those particular muscles are getting used again, and they are extremely painful.

So, I think I'm just going to take it slow this year. And just have fun. :)

Yikes! Reading about that wreck gives me a lot of respect for you for having the courage to participate in motocross.

Hey-have you heard from C&W lately? I think we're losing her. :(

No. It's been a long time, since I've talked to her.
