Heavy Metal... Wait... What?

Basically, I fell in love with a Heavy Metal Band this weekend. I'm not one to normally fall for the type of music, but there I was Friday night... stunned.

The name of the band is Hurt. There were here in Omaha Friday night at Sokol Auditorium, an opening band for Seether. I was taken there by my boyfriend who is a fan of Seether, and I'll admit that I do like a few of Seether's songs. So I got ready and started to jam, while the first band, Red opened up. They were good, and I danced a bit, of course.

But the moment Hurt came out, I was hooked. Something about them caught me. And in previous posts, it's easy to notice that I'm VERY picky about my music. So I knew I was going to like the rest of the concert. The thing with them, is that they don't really scream a lot. They sing, and their instruments really get to me. But something really unexpected came during the third song.

J. Loren, the lead guy, brought out an electric violin. I couldn't tell you the brand or anything, but it was amazing, including the way he played. I sat there in amazement, and studied how he played, and moved around the stage. I watched the entire band, as I listened to the beats and rhythm of the song. His wand eventually started to shred he was playing so hard, and creating such a friction, but the show must go on! He did not stop! I love the bands that have the significant instrument, that sound that stands out, a different perspective. Just like the harmonica, maybe? Lol.

After their show there was a break before the headlining band came on. And I took the chance to go and buy the Hurt CD. After I got the CD and Kyle got a hat, we found J.Loren, the lead guy. Went up to him, and told him that I was a new fan. Got his autograph, he was really cool, and I could tell that he appreciated the compliment. Its great to see musicians that get along with their fans, and take the time to talk to them.

Overall they have a really good sound, and I can't stop listening to the CD. Check them out:

Wow, that sounds really exciting! (the violin thing)

I actually like a few Seether songs myself. "Broken" and "Truth" come to mind. I heard them sing one of their songs (can't remember which one now) in a radio interview. Just two guys and their guitars. It was great.

Anyway, thanks for telling me about Hurt. I'll tell my son about them and he'll act unimpressed, but I guarantee he'll check them out online.

he actually has a smirk in the photo, but its hard to tell at that size. For some reason blogger won't let me make the picture the right size.

He definitely was eyeing someone. Maybe they said something smart ass? lol

Hey, under the picture of the week of Mister H (since I can't comment under it specifically--apologies)...if he's reading US, I'm counting the language is French.

Honey, you knew I'd say that. I'm a classy old skank.
