High Hopes Make For A Crappy Night

So, as most, if not all of you know, I went to a show tonight. I went there, but didn't get to see it. Because of my lack of age, (although some of you believe I am older, lol), I wasn't able to get in. Here's the story as it goes down...

Today at 4:30 I drove into Bellevue, a small cut off town on the edge of Omaha, only about 20 minutes away from Council Bluffs. There I picked up my friend, and we headed to Amerisports Bar, where Taylor was playing tonight. I planned to get tickets, meet up with RayLindy (who was going to help me get in), and then head out for some dinner before the show. If we were lucky to get back early enough, I was going to wait by the buses, and maybe catch a glimpse of Tay. When we arrived, Taylor's buses were out in plain sight, which we sat by while we waited around for a phone call from RayLindy. When she finally called, I met her inside, and I went up to the box office.

"Can I get to tickets to Taylor Hicks please?"
"We only have general admission available."
"That's fine, of course."
"ID please."

I didn't even hesitate. I said that I had a friend there who I could go in with, because I was only 17. She said, "No, I'm sorry you HAVE to be 21, no accompanies." A little ticked off, the news not really hitting me yet, I said my thank you to RayLindy for trying, and I went on my way. My friend and I decided to wait by the buses some more. If I was lucky, we could whine a little bit to him, and he would have us pose as crew, and we'd to get partake in the wonderful event. Unfortunately, he never came out. We waited till about 7, the show started at 7:30, before we took off. While waiting, we did videos and took pictures of us messing around. I even knocked on the door of the bus, hoping that SOMEONE would answer, but no one did. We talked to one of the crew guys who was working on the bus, (cleaning out the toilets, I believe). He didn't help much, but was really cool.

When we took off, we drove to a friend's house not too far away, and we hung out there for awhile. We watched a couple of kids crash on their bikes, and got some 'gnarly' footage, along with some fun pictures. At about 9:30 we headed back to the casino, in hopes of catching Taylor come out. I didn't drive there for nothing. We got back and waited around for at least an hour. We walked around, sat, danced, talked on the phone, and witnessed both Taylor's Dad and Brother walk by. At one point I thought I saw him walk down the hall, but there were a lot of Gray haired guys walking about. No one came out to the buses, not one single person. We had a few fans walk up to us and ask about Taylor in general. Mostly people who had been in to the show, but were just interested if we'd met him. One lady said that Taylor put on a really good show, a lot of rock songs, and the music "was a bit loud, but fun."

After awhile, we came to the conclusion that he wasn't coming out. So we left. We stopped back at our friend's house and picked a couple kids up, and I drove them all to my other friend's house. They all planned to stay the night together, I would've loved to, but I have school. So I headed home after I dropped them off. On my way home... I got pulled over. My plates are expired, and my address wasn't up to date on my license. Now I have to go into court on Aug. 1st, my first offense ever. The officer was surprised to see a teenager have a completely clean record, especially one who has been driving for two years, he told me so, lol. I wasn't charged for any fines, just a court date to prove that I fixed my plates and license.

I got to sit in the front of the cop car while he filled everything out, and I listened to the radio while he wrote. It was cool that I understood everything that was being said through dispatch. The officer kept asking me if I had any questions, he looked shocked that I didn't. He seemed new on the job, I noticed a few mistakes that he made on the radio, and writing down his report, lol. I had a headache, his lights were bright, and it was late, it wasn't very much fun. Although, I'm glad he was a nice guy, that really helped out on the citation.

The night could've been worse I guess. I don't know exactly how... but I'm trying to keep a cool head on my shoulders. I'm a bit upset about it, but I'll get over it. I think it was just bad luck, I promised too many people too many things, and it all backfired. Oh well! There's always next time.

He's playing there again tomorrow, and I think the only reason he didn't come out tonight was because he probably went straight to his hotel room. Tomorrow he'll have to head to the bus. I wasn't planning on going back, but... I'm riding tomorrow in Marne, IA. My drive to Marne goes straight past the casinos, and I get done riding at about 9-9:30. So, why not make a stop? It'll be cool if I see him, although I'll smell terrible. I'll have my bike in the back of [expired] truck, and some hardcore MX gear on, lol. When this thought struck my mind, I was put in a better mood. The more I think about it, the more excited I get. But this time, I'm going to play it by ear, and not let things get to my head. I don't want to get let down again. I hate being pissed, it's not good for my attitude. So, I will just smile and go on, whether or not I go tomorrow. :)
